Introduction to service and the chosen individual
My work placement is within the Organisation of Sense Scotland working in a respite care facility supporting adults with a variety of complex needs. Our service offers a warm welcoming environment to each individual who stays here and we strive to provide a service that meets their needs, our service is a chance for individuals requiring care and support to get away from it all and whatever the choices are of the individuals in our care staff will put a plan in place to meet their needs, it is important that anyone requiring our support feels that they are valued and respected at all times regardless of their disability, race, age, gender etc. and staff will strive to promote the choices of each individual and recognise their full potential and will encourage and support them in their development this is in line with organisational policies and procedures which are based on legal requirements set such as The Equality Act 2010 which stated the rights of every individual to be treated equally, and also putting into practice the value base of the principles outlined in the National care standards such as maintaining each individuals dignity and respecting their privacy and their right to have a choice in the planning of their care, ensuring that they feel safe and secure, encouraging them to reach their full potential and treating them as an equal.
